Catch Up – Vegetables

I have been busy in the allotment over the last few weeks but have not had the time to do an update of the blog – so here goes :

I bought some grow bags ready for the tomatoes and put these in the polytunnel to ‘warm up’ . As usual in our allotments there are several offers of free plants . have accepted these kind offers and will be getting 4 plants soon for Moneymaker and some cherry tomatoes (not sure of the type but will let you know) . As well as those i am trying some of my own from seed so will see how they come along .

The onions and shallots are not in the grow bags ;o)  ! i started those off in seed trays ready for planting out. They were in fact planted out last weekend.

Also started some potatoes in bags a few weeks ago , earlies – rocket – and they are appearing through already – First year i have tried this method and Growing in bags looks very promising .

Have left some in the Polytunnel for now but took a few of each and planted outside under a cloche – its all about experimenting and learning from the results!!

And finally for this post , i have sown seed for Peas, Courgettes, peppers inside the polytunnel and tried a row each of Spring Onions and Beetroot (Bolthardy) in one of the raised bed.
