For various reasons (excuses) i havnt done an update on the blog for a few weeks so i thought i would give an update as to the progress (or not ) that has been made during April.
Most of my raised beds are prepared , only one still has leeks in from last year. Also and area that is not a raised bed has been dug over in prep for planting in May.
Planted out 2 rows of Onions , these were from sets and i started them off in the polytunnel before planting them out .

They all seem OK , i did cover them with a cloche for the first week , maybe that helped .
I bought some Cabbages, Sprouts , Sweetcorn and Carrots from our local Homebase mid April. kept them in the polytunnel but last week planted out the Cabbages and Sprouts , again covered for a while with the cloche.

I have started my 1st early potatoes , both in the ground and , first time for me, planting them in bags. The ones in the ground are just starting to show and the ones in the bags (6 bags) are growing really well. If the bag method is a success maybe the way forward for next year .

Also in the poltunnel i have strawberries coming along nicely and just starting to shoot through are courgettes and dwarf beans.

As well as all of this going on for the allotment my wife has been buying / sowing flowers ready for her hanging baskets . she has only bought a ‘few’ plants – so few in fact we now need a 1st floor extension on the potting shed !

Thats it for now, probably missed off some very important info , but i can always catch up later .
Thanks for reading and please feel free to comment or repost or retweet .
